Project Manager – Construction

Our client, a leader in the construction industry, is in need of an experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple construction projects and ensure the economic viability of the company by working with the  project management team to achieve efficient allocation of resources, manage schedule and meeting project budgets.

Directly reporting to the President, you will be Liaising with a team of professionals and trades to plan, design and execute construction strategies for various projects.  This position will also be responsible for contributing to the development of construction and quality assurance program.  This would require a strong working knowledge of building construction, building materials and the design/build process.  A degree in relevant field of construction or Construction Management is required.  Must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in the construction industry and a Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

You may be required to perform any other related duties as may be requested of you.  The job will require taking on several roles in one day, including employee organization to complete specific project and coordinating with Project Manager.  Also must manage people, permits and time schedules to stay on budget

To effectively complete the requirements and responsibilities of this position, the candidate must be able to complete the following:

  • Oversee the successful management of all construction projects
  • Plan, direct and coordinate the daily activities of the company to influence growth and development
  • Maintain active and constant communication with clients, stakeholders, partners and internal senior management
  • Ensure effective and efficient coordination of all project managers, staff, sub consultants and trades
  • Review all reporting systems and procedures and prepare reports to clients and Management on cost and schedule for all projects
  • Conduct job site inspections and attend project progress meeting
  • Oversee the scheduling and budget for all project including development of proper tracking and reporting of individual and aggregate project budgets and construction schedules
  • Ensuring quality of construction
  • Ensure adherence to the tendering process
  • Negotiation of contract documents – to be executed with stakeholders and partners
  • Balance the commercial and technical demands of contracts
  • Identify and implement issue resolution relative to asset construction success
  • Formulating policies and strategic plans for the company to improve operational efficiency and worker productivity
  • Motivate and formulate training and incentive plans to promote collaboration and team performance
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals
  • Development of processes and procedures that support long term growth of the organization
  • Make decisions based on project data analysis to move the company forward
  • Provide assessments and recommendations on execution related issues to senior management to support long term organizational growth and performance improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in Construction Management, Design-Build, and General Contracting for Commercial, Institutional, Industrial Construction
  • A degree in a construction related field or Construction Management (an asset)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. AutoCAD, Estimating and other specialty software as required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred
