Human Resource Generalist

Our client is in search of a Human Resource Generalist!

This stand-alone position requires a human resources professional who is self-motivated and thrives in a manufacturing business environment. Partnering with operational managers, the Human Resource Generalist provides leadership, planning, co-ordination and management of the administration and operational functions of HR and payroll within the organization. This will include:

  • The coordination of the recruitment processes
  • Employee relations
  • Benefits administration
  • Oversight of payroll processing
  • Compliance with legislation
  • Policy development
  • Implementation of best practices
  • Benefit claims management.


  • Consult with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Responsible for the coordination of employee recruitment activities including job postings, resume screening, reference checks, and orientation
  • Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees
  • Assist in development of improved on boarding programs and standardized HR policies and procedures
  • Oversee maintenance of employee personnel files
  • Compile statistical reports with personnel-related data in a timely manner as required
  • Payroll related reporting (WCB, benefits etc.)
  • Oversee procedures for voluntary and involuntary terminations of employment (ex. ROE’s)
  • Audit T4’s and provide monthly and year end reporting as required
  • Create and distribute important memorandum’s as required across the organization

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Business or Human Resources Management preferred
  • Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is an asset
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of progressively responsible experience and/or equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Experience using payroll software
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is an asset
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Computer literacy with strong knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent understanding of HR standards, best practices, and workplace legislation and their application to the workplace
  • Travel is necessary within the city limits so a vehicle is required

  • A self-motivated individual who can operate autonomously but also as part of a team
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills- must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff from Managers to Senior Executives, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude
